Our Commitment to You

We will never sell your personal information. Your data is used solely to provide and improve the In The Groove service. We believe your vinyl collection and listening habits are personal, and we treat them with the respect they deserve.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve the Service. Here's what we collect and why:

Account Information

Email address and password (securely hashed) for account creation and authentication.

Discogs Integration

When you connect Discogs, we store OAuth tokens to sync your collection. We access your Discogs username and collection data to display your vinyl records in the app.

Listening Sessions

We record which albums you play, when you play them, and session duration. This powers your listening history and statistics.

Stylus Tracking

If you use stylus wear tracking, we store your stylus installation date, estimated hours, and maximum lifespan settings.

Push Notifications

If you enable notifications, we store device tokens to send flip reminders and other alerts. You can disable notifications at any time.

Device Information

We may collect device type and browser information to optimize the Service and troubleshoot issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the Service and its features
  • Display your vinyl collection and listening statistics
  • Send flip notifications and reminders you've enabled
  • Improve and optimize the Service
  • Provide customer support
  • Communicate important updates about the Service

3. Aggregate Usage Statistics

We may collect and analyze aggregate, anonymized usage data to understand how the Service is used and to make improvements. This data cannot be used to identify individual users. Examples include:

  • Most commonly played genres (anonymized)
  • Feature usage patterns
  • Error rates and performance metrics

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting, database services), bound by confidentiality agreements
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text
  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • Database access is restricted and monitored
  • Regular security reviews and updates

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to:

  • Keep you signed in

We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
